I don’t know how else to say this, but here goes.
If you’re about to give up on Christianity, or you’ve already done so, before you walk away from Jesus and the Church, would you consider taking some time to look at the breadth and depth of the Christian tradition before you do so?
I’ve seen many of my peers from high school, college, etc. walk away from the faith and, while I can’t do anything to stop anyone from doing so, my heart is grieved.
Because I at least wonder whether they’re really walking away from Christ and Christ’s global, historic Church, or if they’re just (rightly) walking away from a narrow fundamentalist upbringing and/or an abusive church experience.
By all means, flee fundamentalism and abusive church leaders! But there’s so much more to the ancient, liturgical, and sacramental Christian tradition than that.

If you want to walk away from the whole thing because the cost of discipleship is too high or absurd for you, OK.
But don’t inadvertently throw out the gospel baby with the fundamentalist bathwater! At least make sure you have a sense of what you’re really walking away from before you leave for good?
Anyway, I don’t claim to have all the answers here, but if this post resonates with you, feel free to reach out to me.
At the very very least, I’ll happy give you some reading recommendations if you want a better sense of the historical/theological breadth and depth of Christianity!
Many people have helped me along my journey, showing me the riches of the Christian tradition when I’ve been tempted to give up on the whole thing. I’d love to do my small part to pay it forward, if I can be of help to you.
