Loving this talk by Sarah on unlearning practices, beliefs that reinforce power asymmetries between designers and users in design!

Have your participants scope, lead, frame, conduct research interviews to give them agency rather than having pre-determined questions

Sarah also emphasises importance of cultivating a critical self-reflexivity in designers via journalling to get aware of their own positionalities, values and how they implicitly bring them during designing
One very good point she just mentioned is focus not just on problems, frustrations of your users but also their abilities, what can they do
What I most love about the talk is Sarah also describes what her ideas might look like in practice by giving examples
Anytime you make a decision for your research, design ask yourself is this your decision to make instead of those who have the lived experience of it, your users?
Identity≠Analysis. Even if you have a diverse body of practitioners and academics it's important to discern their politics. Eg - Whether they are reinforcing the status quo or mutual liberation
On how she applies what she reads in critical theory, social theories to challenging canonical design practice, methods

"I read the work and wonder how can I improve my world, how I approach my research, on how does it affect my practice"
So making sure to always circle back and wonder
