on top is by the end Walker KNOWS the Dora Milaje could’ve killed him but didn’t bc *he wasn’t a real threat to them* & now he knows it too. Even foreign Black women w/o superpowers beat him & don’t fear him & it breaks him bc in his world HE should be better than them.

The lie Walker tells himself is that he’s a good man who can save more ppl if he has powers but the violent truth is he takes the serum to save his sense of self regardless of who he hurts bc he can’t live in a reality where he’s NOT more powerful than ppl he sees as beneath him.

This is the same lie bullies tell themselves to justify the harm they cause others, that white supremacist America tells itself to justify its history & present of imperialism, colonialism & oppression. I’ve got critiques of the show but what it’s doing w/Walker is spot on.

Also: Kudos to Wyatt Russell really killing it as John Walker. It is not easy to play the guy you know the audience will hate & he’s doing a great job playing Walker as the guy who’s convinced he’s right but too scared to face his own inadequacies & falling bc of that.
