Having spent the last months reading many, many Public Health notices, it's clear that there is a huge disparity in information being shared
Transparency will be especially important as we enter the 3rd wave

Some schools are very transparent. Letters are sent out as soon as they know of a positive case, and then official PH letters sent out with more info once they have it.
See Westwood Collegiate, SJASD, as an example.

Some schools send out detailed letters once PH investigation is complete and it is determined the person was at school while infectious.
See O.V Jewitt, Seven Oaks SD, as an example: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bo3V9eswj9OC00LRGFgbSO-D9OP-NDgX/view

7Oaks gets credit for keeping info about cases up on their site.
OV Jewitt doesn't send out courtesy letters when a case is not infectious at school. So some cases have no letter, but appear on the gov dashboard. However kids see each other out of school + more info is better

Then there are the bare bones or DIY PH letters. These tell you little other than that a case has been found. No dates, no classes - nothing.

All of this leads to confusion, but the fact that some schools do a great job means that we have good models that you can push your school/division to adopt!
If your school/div does not report like Westwood did, then you should call/email them and find out why not

Having timely, reliable, local information is going to be essential as we face a 3rd wave. We saw contact tracing fall apart in the 2nd wave, and variants move too quickly to wait for PH to catch up this time around.
Now is the time to push your principal, superintendent, trustees to make these policy changes, before things get out of hand and everyone is too overwhelmed to re-work their comm. tools.
