Photoland is the place where you can find an incredibly thoughtful and well researched chapter in Susie Linfield's The Cruel Radiance about genocide photographs and where some photo dude then goes out to colourize photographs of genocide victims and makes them smile.
Honestly, I don't even know how many problems in photoland arise because so many people are more obsessed with fucking software shit than with educating themselves about what the fuck they're working on.
The moral and spiritual emptiness of the stuff, callously presented in (where else?) @Vice is beyond repellent. It's utterly disgusting and an insult to the memories of the people who were brutally murdered.
Absolutely none of that work is needed in any kind of way. You don't tinker with the source photographs, because they're not in need of any kind of change.
