Photoland is the place where you can find an incredibly thoughtful and well researched chapter in Susie Linfield& #39;s The Cruel Radiance about genocide photographs and where some photo dude then goes out to colourize photographs of genocide victims and makes them smile.
Honestly, I don& #39;t even know how many problems in photoland arise because so many people are more obsessed with fucking software shit than with educating themselves about what the fuck they& #39;re working on.
The moral and spiritual emptiness of the stuff, callously presented in (where else?) @Vice is beyond repellent. It& #39;s utterly disgusting and an insult to the memories of the people who were brutally murdered.
Absolutely none of that work is needed in any kind of way. You don& #39;t tinker with the source photographs, because they& #39;re not in need of any kind of change.
