So in preparation for this talk, I was re-reading @margalitfox's fabulous book on Alice Kober and the decipherment of Linear B, and I realized that the great AK spent some time in Boulder, Colorado! 1/6 https://twitter.com/DimitriNakassis/status/1374023154046169090
She wrote this letter (housed in the @PASParchives) to John Franklin Daniel from the Albany Hotel on 13th and Walnut on July 20, 1946; "I'm taking a long vacation with some friends - we're driving west and then to Mexico." 2/6 https://repositories.lib.utexas.edu/bitstream/handle/2152/16858/AEKtoJFD19460720.pdf?sequence=2&isAllowed=y
The hotel's structure was originally built in 1906 as the local @ymca, and sold to R.J. Bush in 1926, who converted it into a hotel. It was demolished in the 1960s to make way for a parking lot for the National State Bank, which is around the corner on Pearl Street 4/6
Sadly, the plot where the Albany Hotel used to be located is still a parking lot, one of the very few (maybe the only?) in the historic downtown core of Boulder: https://goo.gl/maps/4kFy8u384fyW5q8G9 6/6
