Whilst it is ‘good’ a women has won the grand national. I’d like to make a smaller thread to remind you how cruel of a sport it is. On average roughly 800 horses will die every year from racing injuries. & Once they are no longer fit for racing, many horses will be euthanised.
Race horses training usually starts at a very young age. this is damaging to the horse as it’s bones will not have developed properly yet, leading to further health complications & pain for the horse. To hide the pain that horses feel from racing related strain & injuries, many
jockeys will give their horses various different medications such as anti inflammatory meds, meaning they’ll be able to race even when in pain. Secondly the industry has a big steroid problem, many jockeys illegally inject steroids into their horses to improve performance. There
are so many more reasons however i’m trying to keep this short & simple & easy for people who don’t have a lot of experience or knowledge about this industry. Racing is such a cruel and abusive sport & i can’t stress enough how important it is you do your part to stop supporting
educate yourself & help stop the suffering of thousands of poor horses.
