Storytelling through albums is difficult to do. Artists need to be able to capture their whole journey through the production, writing and overall theme of the album. They create a whole new world with these type of albums, a world listeners can escape to, whenever. (CONT.)
Albums like “After Hours,” are perfect examples of this. From the moment the album starts it feels like being lost in Vegas, trying to numb the pain of heartbreak. A feeling that we could go to, to escape the pain of our own heartbreak.
All in all, it’s through the emotion, relatability and vulnerability artists leave when telling their stories that create whole new worlds for us to escape to, when dealing with our own emotions or issues. That is the true art of storytelling in music.
