as we wait to hear about our fate on Monday, I am going to tweet out some important passages from the publicly available affidavit our @lufappul prez provided the court that (amazingly) has not been picked up by the press
our faculty are doing their job in terms of research funding
the argument from the admin is that there are too many profs teaching too many courses to too few students. Yet the data they use for this argument are flawed.
course offerings are not nearly as numerous as claimed
of course, ironically, our admin bragged about the large number of courses being offered this spring.
but the courses are too small at Laurentian! And yet....
this university serves Francophone and Indigenous communities. Smaller class sizes are baked into our identity because we serve these communities.

Debt repayment appears to be part of the story
when this debt repayment is taken into account, the costs of instruction and research are in line with comparative universities.
