Coronavirus Travel Country Stats to 9th April

New Formatting getting ready for the UK🚦system!

'Change' now shows ⬆️↗️↘️⬇️⏹️ instead of red/green to avoid confusion

New💉column showing # of vaccination doses a country has administered

More details below

1/
All country data for

Africa
Asia
Europe
Americas

Oceania not included, no data other than Australia/NZ already in main dataset.

NB - Especially in Africa some countries do very little testing so case numbers unreliable.

2/
Europe continues to improve a week after the Easter break in most of the region

Turkey has a huge problem at the moment, alarming case growth now definitely the most worrying in the region

Slowdown definitely visible in France and Poland now and pretty much everywhere else

3/
Situation outside Europe still mixed

Brazil's cases are stable, but clearly situation is poor there.

USA's slowly increasing again, Canada more so

Seychelles showing decent falls now, Maldives still up.

UAE remains on a fairly high plateau, Qatar still rising above it.

4/
UK restrictions remain until at least 17th May:

- Declaration before travel from UK to ensure you have legal reason.
- Test before travel to UK
- Passenger Locator Form
- Isolation/Quarantine for all arrivals except Ireland
- Over Priced Tests after arrival

5/
Friday's Travel Task Force report was (again) bit vague and anti-climatic but still fairly positive.

My thoughts on this thread - https://twitter.com/EvilDoctorK/status/1380472277330968576?s=20

You can read the report here - https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/977446/Report-of-the-Global-Travel-Taskforce-accessible.pdf

6/
It sill looks as though travel will reopen on May 17th and this means

- No Travel Ban, everyone is free to leave to anywhere
-🚦as outlined in the report applies on the return to the UK

If you are okay with home isolation and testing then you'll have a lot of choices.

(Speculation)

It will restart on May 17th and🟩list countries will be a short list at the start.

Most places on 🟥 will remain so, but some ( UAE & Qatar at first ) might escape to 🟨 status.

Everywhere else globally will be 🟨

8/
(More Speculation)

At biggest risk at the moment of being added to the 🟥list are:

Turkey
India

Both have huge outbreaks at the moment and if there's any extra concern over 'variants' then they could be added.. not a certainly , but it's a big risk right now.

9/
For Ireland restrictions remain

- Test before travel to Ireland
- Passenger Locator Form
- Hotel Quarantine for growing list of arrivals
- Isolation for all other arrivals.

The future outlook for travel to/from Ireland is much bleaker than the UK unfortunately

10/
UK/Ireland 'Common Travel Area' travel from Britain to Ireland is now completely unrestricted from Britain, but entry into Ireland remains highly restricted.

Ireland to Britain remains against Irish Govt advice, but arrivals in Britain from Ireland face no restrictions.

12/
Vaccine Data is total 💉administered per 100 population.

The bars displayed are full at 100 so could mean everyone with one 💉, or 50% all had 💉💉 ( or something in between)

It's a bit limited but is the metric that is available for most countries so makes sense to use

13/
Obviously there's issues with figures as vaccines are only used in adults and there will increasingly be more single 💉vaccines available.

For now though the 'vaccine' bars in the charts give a good guide

As Variants are unfortunately a hot topic at the moment you may be interested in my efforts to track the spread of 'Variants of Concern' in Europe here

I'll update this one roughly weekly .. it's not great data, but it seems useful to track
