Why West Bromwich Albion will stay up. - [A Thread]
With just 8 games left to play, West Brom are 8 points away from safety. Just winning only 4 games of 30, most pundits and fans have already expected West Brom to go down.
Giving that these are our remaining fixtures, we look "hopeless" of pulling off a miracle. We have to play Liverpool and Arsenal, and also two of the current top four - Leicester and West Ham.
BUT it is far too soon for us to give up and completely accept relegation, which some of fans already has.

I will show you an example of a similar case in 2014 - as it happened with Leicester, and also how we almost pulled off an escape in 2018, which much worse conditions.
With also 8 games left to play, Leicester also won only 4 games from 30, and were rock bottom with 19 points. (even less points than us) and was 7 points off the relegation zone, after returning from the international break, a similar situation that we are in at the moment.
After the late win against West Ham in Matchday 31, Leicester then managed to went on pick up 14 points from a possible 18, ending the season over 6 points clear from relegation.
Now, onto our 2017/18 escape attempt.

With only 5 games to go, WBA were 10 points away from safety.

And what were our remaining fixtures?

Manchester United (2nd), Liverpool (4th), Newcastle (10th), Spurs (3rd) and Palace (11th).

We had to face 3 of the top 4 of that season.
West Brom went to pick up 10 points from a possible 12.

W - United 1-0 away.
D - Liverpool 2-2 after being 2 down.
W - Newcastle 1-0 away.
W - Spurs 1-0 away after scoring in extra time.

Shows that if you have the motivation to pull off an escape, hard fixtures are irrelevant.
Unfortunately, West Brom didn't survive the drop.

Manolo Gabbiadini scored against Swansea for Southampton in the 72th minute, which prevented us making it into the final day.

What a final day that could've been.
Still gutted to this day.
Now back to the present.

Can we actually pull off the greatest escape in PL history?
Do we have the "essential" elements needed for survival?

Yes.
THE SQUAD (1/3)

I believe that this squad is Premier League quality.

We had a very successful transfer market, with Big Sam bringing in quality players on loan, especially Yokuslu from Celta.

Bringing in Maitland-Niles and Yokuslu really helped our midfield situation.

It was a huge upgrade from Sawyers & Livermore who were disastrous.

If we had them at the start, we might not be even be near the drop zone.

We also brought in Mbaye Diagne to solve our goalscoring problems. - The top scorer for the Super Lig last season with 30 goals.

Notable players :

Sam Johnstone - Saved us multiple times this season, one of the best goalkeepers in the league so far. Massively underrated.

Matheus Pereira - Has been very crucial for us, deserves to play for a much bigger club.
Bagged 12 G/A in a defensive minded team.
THE MANAGER

Our fanbase might hate Big Sam, but he really made us look like a proper team, we looked much more better than when we had Bilic.

We don't just sit there and park for 90 minutes anymore.

He has also managed two great escapes with Palace and Bolton...
THE MOMENTUM

After beating Chelsea 5-2 on the weekend, the squad are in high spirits and confidence.

We have the edge over Newcastle and Fulham on this one.

We have also picked the same amount of points as Fulham and Newcastle have combined in the last 5 games. (7)
Do I think that we're going to 100% stay up?

Of course not, but I believe that we have the ability to pull off a great miracle.
