So, WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN WITH THIS MASTERPIECE OF ART IN A TV SHOW CALLED AMPHIBIA FOR THIS WEEKS EPISODES! To start, Sasha’s back and better than ever but I’ll elaborate on that more later. But for now I’ll talk about the 2nd temple.
Well to start it’s nice to see Valeriana again since the Bazaar Bazaar episode. It’s interesting to hear how she was a part of a group of people who worked to keep the powers of the gems and the music box. But I was given a theory that’s not my own but I found quite interesting.
So the theory was that Sprig’s mom (possibly Emma the Newt) was a part of this organization and that’s how she got the music box. It’s unknown if she was entrusted with it, or stole it to conceal its power as its power does entice people but that’s the theory.
Once again, this is NOT my theory but another fan of amphibia told me and I thought it was good to mention. Now, I really liked all the trials for the 2nd temple as it showed how selflessness Anne has changed to be and how no one else but Anne jumped so quickly to help.
But when Valeriana references all the times Anne was selfish, man that hit hard. Anyone in Anne’s position would feel unworthy, but like Matt said, Amphibia is all about change and while Anne wasn’t worthy back then, over the course of the series, she’s changed to be worthy now.
As was so evidently proved in the 2nd temple trials. Now, THE HEART GEM ISN’T FULLY CHARGED?! Only half of it was, which means Anne still has a hint of her power left in her. This makes sense now that in the season 2 intro when Anne and Sasha fight, Anne’s sword lit up blue.
So maybe Anne might use what’s left of her power against Sasha when they inevitably meet again. But overall, I really like the 2nd temple and definitely give it a 9-9.5 out of 10. Now, onto Barrel’s Warhammer and that masterpiece.
So to start, seeing all the toad lords of the North, East, and Western is great. Grime was likely the Southern toad Lord which makes sense as Wartwood is in the southern part of Amphibia. It’s so awesome to see @dicek2g in Amphibia. Love your work as Jin in Ghost of Tsushima.
Now, when Percy and Braddock asked for a signal and when Sasha says do your best Kawaii face, I was dying. I really gotta make art of this soon. This was a really serious episode, but this made my day. It’s the little jokes like these that really make a great show.
But it’s cool to see another giant monster. Also, forgot to mention this earlier, but when Sasha heard Anne & Marcy were working against her, she had such rage and anger against them. This could be to FOMO, or due to Sasha thinking they were her friends but now turn against her.
It only makes me more afraid of what Sasha will do when she sees them. But back to chronological order, Barrel’s Warhammer giant monster and stuff. Also the story behind Barrel the Brave that Percy told, could that have been the Toad in the painting in the Newtopian basement?
I don’t have the full picture on hand but if you find a picture you’ll know what I mean. Now in Barrel’s Warhammer Sasha’s controlling personality shows where she disregards Percy and Braddock’s opinions to leave and goes forward to fight and get the hammer.
Now when Sasha tries to pull the hammer in order to stop the giant monster thing from crashing into the tower, she uses Anne and Marcy working against her as a motive. Instead of focusing on getting home, her main motive is revenge and anger which is clouding her vision.
This just further reinforces my point that I’m afraid of what Sasha will do to Anne and Marcy when they meet as this is now her main motive and it is built off anger, fear, and pure rage. This makes her with help from Grime lift the hammer and win the support of all the toads.
But honestly, at what cost. They got what they wanted, but not what they needed. All their soldier abandoned them at the fall of Toad tower in S1, but Percy and Braddock who stood faithful. But that trust was broken as Sasha went against her word and risked their lives.
She gained an army, but lost her two of her most faithful friends and soldiers. @Animation_KJ did say that this could possibly be a foreshadowing to True colors where Anne and Marcy finally see Sasha’s manipulative personality and turn from her. But we’ll have to wait and see.
And when Grime said to let them go, it shows his ruthlessness to show no allegiance to anyone but himself. He’s willing to fulfill his dream, with or without his friends and he’s putting that into Sasha which scares me. Will Sasha decide to stay in Amphibia and rule with Grime?
But either way, this thread is way too long and I’ve been talking for far too long myself. What are your guy’s thoughts on these 2 episodes? I personally loved them and can’t wait for next week with the 3rd temple.
