I was often told by teachers I wasn’t applying myself bc I did poorly in there class but good in another’s, implying I was smart but choosing when to apply it. In reality the classes I did excel at were the ones catering to my individual learning style & focusing on my strengths. https://twitter.com/erikaheidewald/status/1380755842891272195
This narrow view of intelligence worked off the theory if others didn’t learn in the same & limited way they weren’t smart when really if given the ability to apply ones own strengths to the manner of learning that best suits the individual all people are smart in there own right
It also completely disregards privilege but regardless realizing my success wasn’t a product of choice just the accessibility & flexibility of the learning environment I have really begun to further become sure intelligence is a concept based solely on illogical interpretation.
