It’s rad when people assume the worst about Kentucky. And fail to understand literally anything about our state. But they can make Big Mad statements and their echo chamber just tells them they’re right. Example forthcoming: https://twitter.com/7Veritas4/status/1380497775801069569
I grew up in Harlan County. Harlan is a very rural, very Appalachian county. It’s exactly where ppl like this dude assumes the ignorant hicks live. It’s poor. It’s perpetually underserved. It has 2 vaccination sites.
Seems fine for a county of around 30,000 people. However, Harlan is a mountainous place. So, to move around the county, you have to literally go across or around mountains. These vaccine sites can easily be 20-30 minutes each way.
Pick a community, Evarts, Wallins Creek, Pathfork, Bledsoe (I could go on). You’ll see it isn’t close. Many either can’t easily get off work, or lack dependable transportation. (Remember, this is a place where most live below the poverty line).
Also, we have a very competent governor. If anyone would take a second before popping off, that isn’t hard to figure out. But, in a poor, rural state, getting TO people to give them vaccine is hard.

Firing off an ill informed tweet to call people ignorant isn’t hard. The end.
