/thread
Other than the “obvious” (hard time spelling, writing, reading) here are some less known symptoms

- difficulty focusing on voices
- struggling with left/right
- feeling overwhelmed causing you to shut down
- low self esteem
- forgetting important dates, names, places

+
- being either very organised or disorganised, sometimes both, but no in between
- fine motor skill differences that can make holding a pen or typing hard
- “intelligent” but often graded poorly due to dyslexia or anxiety due to dyslexia
- difficulty with sounds/verbalising*

+
*this isn’t the same as non verbalism- but non verbal autistic people can also have dyslexia

- RSD symptoms/ sensitivity to rejection or failure
- head/stomach aches during exams or stressful word based situations
- writing backwards!! This one freaked my family out

+
- feelings of being silenced or misunderstood because of verbal delays/difficulties
- repeating “you know what I mean” or “if that makes sense” as they’re unsure they expressed clearly
- anxiety or social withdrawal, often as a result of bullying
Some facts/awareness:

- some dyslexics have less symptoms when speaking or writing in another language
- dyslexia can overlap with ADHD, dyspraxia, or dysphasia
