Here is the summary thread of discussions and takeaways 🧵
📝Things to embed into lessons -
retrieval practise starters in GCSE lessons,
teaching about SDGs,
Weekly reading an article as a department
Breaking down maps further
Thinking about the images that you present when teaching about climate change
Meaningful images in slides.
GIS in lessons
Starting a book club
Introducing more stories/ literature
Virtual fieldwork for the locations they are learning about as case studies
🏊‍♀️What we do to improve our wellbeing on a jamboard
We discussed how journalling can help wellbeing too with apps such as day one, daylio and discussing the day with housemates too. In addition to staying away from colleagues who are "mood hoovers"
Big reminders that you have to keep a sustainable pace through term, that it is a marathon, not a sprint!🏃‍♀️
I emphasised the importance of kindness within departments and how coffee can be the way to many teachers hearts! ☕️
💭We discussed whether we wanted to be more academic or pastoral at school in the future. On a jamboard we shared what we are excited about for our teaching careers
