ADHD makes us impatient.

Time blindness means we struggle to be motivated by the non immediate future.

So even though we understand the future logically, it doesn't motivate us much.

So when faced with hurdles or emotions, we want to get past it NOW.
And if (when) we can't, we feel like giving up.

Cause 2 weeks into the future might as well be 2000 years into the future.

And with our difficulties putting things into perspective, it might as well be 2000 years, cause it sure can feel like it.
Eg, starting studying early for exams is considered the best approach.

But I can't do it.

Even if I care about studies, it didn't motivate me until it was a few weeks away.

For my Master's exam last year, I started studying 3 weeks before, giving myself 4 days per exams.
Why 4 day?

Well through extensive testing (ie, failing and resitting exams), I realized I need atleast 4 days of study to get a B or an A.

Before, I'd get motivated around 2 days per exam.

2 wasn't enough so through years of practice, learnt to give myself 4.
Ah, by 2 days per exam I mean:

6 exams a semester, and 12 days, or, 2 weeks.

It wasn't calculated, it just happened to be that way.

Last year, I had 5 exams times 4 days, ie 3 weeks.

I just got a feel for minimum days I'd need to get motivated but also do well.
