It is grim and spooky that such a stark and painful example of the EU's structural and cultural faults should immediately follow the UK's departure. As if God wanted the country to acquire immunity to returning. I hope that this disaster—and Brexit itself—lead to genuine reform.
I did very-well-thank-you out of the EU. It paid for my MSc; before my last academic employer closed down, it was about to pay for a research assistant to work for me; after my employer closed, it paid me to do research for the Commission. I still believed we had to go.
