People on Internet: "model making is a lost art!"

The Mandalorian (Season 2, Chapter 15, 2020):
People on Internet: Everthing is CGI now.

The Mandalorian: Hold my beer.
People on internet : Ok, so that's is proof model making is better than CGI! CGI is bad!

The Mandalorian: sigh.
After two and a half years of showing that cinema is created by a plurality of complementary techniques and tools, I'm a little fed up with clichés :D
What is true is that productions are on a budget and on a deadline, which can impact the quality of the shots. But it is not the nature of the special effect that makes its quality.

For two decades.
Even more important: there's Alien (1978) and 2001: A space Odyssey (1968) in the Mandalorian. Sort of.
Bonus: Some models from the last 12 years.

(not even counting study models - love them)
Well, some study/concept models - by Neil Ellis (TFA), @megamanex (Orville), @kev_jenkins (TLJ) or the Lucasfilm design team.
And the beautiful U-Wing model by Alex Hutchings on display at ILM, with artist @coliewertz as happy as me on the pic ;)
