I don’t normally do this, but I noticed there’s a lot of college students taking the vaccine and I thought I’d share my experience so that it’s not nerve-wracking. Feel free to DM me any questions about it if this thread does not cover it!
There are two main ways people in this area can get the vaccine: either through the Sarasota Health Department website ( http://sarasota.floridahealth.gov/programs-and-services/clinical-and-nutrition-services/immunizations/covid-19.html) or the CVS website to set up an appointment for your 1st and 2nd dose. I chose the latter, and bear in mind...
The Sarasota Department of Health, to my knowledge, distributes the Moderna vaccine whereas CVS is distributing the Pfizer vaccine. When I logged on to CVS, I had to write whether or not I had health insurance, a few details here and there, and I had my appointments the next day
Through both text message and email they told me when and where I had to go. This is important: you have to arrive 15 minutes earlier than your appointment date. Once the date approaches, you will get a text message that will have a link that you’ll have to click on...
15 minutes before your appointment. Then, show your proof of identification, and hold on to the proof of vaccination paper. In the CVS I went to, I was told to wait in a line along with other people who had their appointments. Remember to stay within 6 ft from one another.
After doing the line, I sat down and a lady took my temperature (in the website they ask whether you have symptoms and whatnot.) I got vaccinated, got a nice band-aid, and was told to stay in CVS for fifteen minutes. This was so just in case there were any side effects...
like nausea and the like, I could go straight to the pharmacy. Not all bodies are the same, so don’t worry. Besides, @CVSHealth gave me a nice 20% discount coupon just because I got a free vaccine so grab a mask, treat yourself with that discount if you can!
It is worth mentioning that they will ask which arm you would like receive your shot in, since it might feel a bit sore. I chose my left arm because I primarily use y right arm.
Fifteen minutes passed, and I was good to go. My arm felt a bit sore afterwards, and I personally can’t lift heavy stuff because of it, but this is a completely normal side effect of the Pfizer vaccine. Some people that have taken Pfizer felt no soreness, others did.
Later, I got an email detailing the address of the CVS where I would have to go to get the second shot, as well as the time and date of it. That’s pretty much what the experience was like, but I noticed some peers were nervous/hesitant about the vaccine...
which is why I intend to be transparent about it. If you have any questions related to it, send me a DM or reply to any of the tweets from this thread. I encourage everyone to get vaccinated so we may have a resemblance of normalcy back :)
