Where can you find mentors as a software engineer or engineering manager? A thread with free & paid mentorship resources.

Do you know of more places? Add a comment to the end:

1. At your current company. Are there more experienced folks? They could be your mentor!
2. Mentoring Club https://www.mentoring-club.com/the-mentors/category/software-engineering . The largest pro-bono mentorship organization where experienced mentors volunteer their limited time to help others.

A great place for sr engineers and EMs to find mentors: and if you do, please consider volunteering to help someone.
3. Coding Coach https://codingcoach.io/

A fantastic place to find software engineer mentors volunteering their time for free to help others. Here are quotes from Coding Coach mentors and mentees:
4. Code Mentor. https://www.codementor.io/  A paid platform to get immediate help when stuck on coding. It's a marketplace connecting engineers with other engineers. The pricing encourages 15-30 minute sessions (you pay per minute).
6. Plato. This is the resource that is more expensive than any of the ones mentioned: however, though I was a mentor, I cannot with good conscience recommend paying for it.

Mentors volunteer for free, and you pay $300+/month, all of which goes to Plato. https://twitter.com/GergelyOrosz/status/1379501724738674689?s=20
7. Do direct reachouts to people local to you, asking if they do paid mentorship.

There are people who might not be on these sites, but are knowledgable and might be open to helping. Don't assume they'll volunteer their time for free, though.

What other places do you know of?
