Ymir’s “love” for the king; a thread

TW// mentions of abuse, grooming, manipulation

Biggest thank you to @zygosoji for helping me word it
After reading over the chapter again, I kinda noticed that (and this is imo and just observation) Ymir’s “love” for King Fritz was a product of constant grooming, manipulation, gaslighting and just all kinds of abuse (sexual, physical, verbal, etc.)
Added to the fact that the king is the only person she ever really interacted w on a day-to-day basis, it makes sense as to why she would confuse it as such. She was around 13 and didn’t have the resources, time, or environment to fully process what was happening to her.
Grooming isn’t just "u do what I want u to” it's sweet talking and false hope only to be ruined in the end. Ymir came from nothing and it is relatively easier to persuade someone who has nothing especially when the only source of communication is with her abuser.
As mentioned previously, being only 13 years old, her brain isn't developed enough to process the whole situation properly, and because of all of those factors combined, I believe there has been a lot of brainwashing that has led her to believe this is love.
Ideally, people would be able to figure out signs of grooming and eventually grow to resent their abuser— but the circumstances if the series are different. It takes years for victims to realize they've been abused, and most of the time it's after the abuser is no longer around.
This thread is getting super long, I apologize for that. I’m not claiming to be an expert nor do I want to speak over real victims and their sides of the story. From what I’ve learned and what Isayama has given us, I just think it’s a very plausible explanation for Ymir's "love".
