oh and i forgot to include palestine. before the British interfered there are lots of records of Jews, Arabs, Turks and even Christians living there in harmony. not saying it was always peaceful there, but the British literally put in the seeds of today’s crisis.

some of these countries in the list were ‘under British protection’, were heavily pillaged and their independence dates goes uptil 70s and 80s... this wasn’t in faraway history, these people were our parents age.

someone saw this and dmed me that ‘he fought against the nazis’ and i hope they recover from this mentality soon because that means shit. fighting against one evil isn’t a clear pass or an erasure for supporting other forms of evil.

i also wanted to include somaliland in the list but didn’t because i wasn’t sure how to frame my words to explain it because internationally it is still considered a part of somalia. you can read up on it to gain insight coz british+ italians have caused some serious harm there

considering how they divided the india under british raj into modern day india and pakistan, i left pakistan out of the list on technicalities but probably should’ve added it too.

also the godawful thing they did to hong kong... they basically ‘freed’ hong kong in 1997 but with a time limit of 50 years. the ‘one country two systems’ rule is to disintegrate in 2047 and from then on hong kong will be merged with china. this is a cause of great stress rn.

added the years of independence along with some other countries... you can see that 24 countries weren't free until 60s, 14 in the 70s, 6 in the 80s. him and his wife spent their youth and early old-age thriving on exploiting these countries.
