How flowviz is used:
Flowviz is a fluid applied to bodywork that creates streaks with the airflow. This can then be compared to wind tunnel/CFD results
Each team makes their own from oil and flouresscent dye.
Here @MercedesAMGF1 Kim Stevens applies it to a new front wing section
On track the air moves the dyed fluid and the resulting patterns stay on the car as it returns to the pits.
Then photographs taken in under UV light of the streaks and used back at the factory for analysis.
This process has been used for decades.
