Here we are on the other side of Easter and still those #teethingproblems are biting. Over the past 3 months, since my first thread, I have seen things that really are depressing. Here is my next short thread.
Having over 24M hits on my Twitter account has lead to me to talk with prominent politicians on the opposition benches. However I still haven’t had the conversation with @michaelgove that he promised.
So what’s new since my appearance on @newsnight and @mrjamesob? Simple put very little. Supply chains are still struggling to cope, cost of logistics continue to rise & still total silence from the Tory-UKIP party.
However behind the scenes a lot has being going on. The Letter from the trade demanding Vi-1 be scrapped whilst not replied to formally did come up in a meeting two weeks ago with @VictoriaPrentis.
Members of the wine trade on asking @VictoriaPrentis about this face to face she confirmed that firstly she agreed they should all go but the wine trade needed to talk to Gove directly. So folks as I already knew Gove is the problem.
Now whilst the trade has given Gove two weeks to arrange this meeting, I believe this was about defusing the momentum the trade has on this subject. In other words Gove wanted to kick the can down the road.
Sorry @michaelgove but that doesn’t wash with me and @cpjelmore does expect you to reply to his letter as do I in the very near future. Or were you lying at the dispatch box & you have zero intentions of discussing this?
The support of the scrapping Vi-1 has never been supported by so many bodies on a global level. In fact the only person in the world who is struggling to comment on this is Michael Gove.
Scrapping Vi-1 would actually be a Brexit win, and let’s be honest they are very rare! But it would be the removal of unnecessary red tape on a EU invented requirement that the Tory-UKIP party could boast about.
Just for the record these are some of the countries that want vi-1 scrapped. The EU, USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Canada, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, and just about every other wine producing nation!
Over the past 3 months I have seen how the U.K. media is very much controlled by government and there are very few outlets that tell the truth. For me the @guardiannews is the only broadsheet prepared to print realities of Brexit Britain. Hats off to them.
The FT and LBC also do a good job, and locally to me The Western Mail have been excellent, but then you have papers like The Daily Mail and Express that literally make stories up from fresh air.
As the U.K. slowly gets back to normal after Covid we will see just how broken the supply chains really are. But I fear the full stupidity of Brexit is yet to realised in all parts of the U.K economy.
Finally next month it’s election time in Wales and Scotland. Would you really be voting for the Tory-UKIP party? A party that has clearly demonstrated its refusal to engage with entire business sectors and only rewards their sponsors.
