Hobbies in general can help you structure your time, invigorate your mind, create and strengthen social connections, give you more layers to your personality, and enable you to cope with the stress and tough times. All of this have a solid ground in all WTC characters.

Krauss & Eva used to practice martial arts to build their character and bestow the knowledge upon their children for self defense in Alliance. Rudolf & Kyrie also practiced shooting which had a big effect in turning the events in their favour in Requiem.

Rosa was heavily invested in clothes design and used to design her own dresses & opened her own company which led to many later developments regarding her presence in the company, and the origin of Saktarou’s making.

Kinzo’s investment in many things was actually a way for him to connect with his children, but it made us accept many horrifying things in the beginning as magic and sorcery and ignore the real story behind his character and his office.

Battler and Yasu found love over the same hobby of reading mystery novels, which was actually acquired from kumasawa. Ikkuo meeting tohya also helped her refine her writing hobby and create the best version of the forgeries and gain fame and respect.

It might not even be a hobby at all and more of a habit, just like hideyoshi’s smoking habits and how it was an important clue in banquet, or his gesture of kindness in treating eva’s insecurities by holding her hand.

One of the main points of actually trying to see ghoda as a good guy was his love for cooking, and kumasawa’s love for telling weird stories helped spread the illusion of there being another master in the mansion.

Higurashi cast’s hobbies have even deeper roots in creating character and suspense. The board game club was created for the sake of helping satoko cope with the abuse and loneliness, same for satoshi and using baseball as a let out for anger.

All of this was reflected through keiichi and other character development. Rena’s Hobby of collecting junk, Rika’s Poetry, Satoko’s Cooking, Takano’s theory books & her grandfather’s hobby, all of these were integral in creating suspense and building SoL moments & Character.
