Join me in this Twitter-Party. I am celebrating my 1st Runniversary today, with a virtual tweet-party of milestones since starting to run, exactly a year ago. Huge thanks to @NHSC25K & @HealthUnlocked running communities, family & friends for all their support. (Thread 1/23)
10/04/2020 A year ago during the first lockdown, as so many did, I also started Couch to 5k, with the support from the @HealthUnlocked Running Communities and the NHS Choices App! #C25k #B210k #StrengthFlex #MarathonRace (Thread 2/23)
30/06/2020 Graduated from C25k. (I can now run 30 min continuously) Health Journeys: I used to be fit, then I wasn’t. Now I’m getting there again. Health journeys are always personal, sometimes painful. But they have their moments. This was one. More followed. (Thread 3/23)
01/07/2020 Started the NHS 12-Wk Fitness Plan, together with a consolidation period for embedding running into my week. Running or short workouts now start my day. https://healthunlocked.com/strengthandflex/posts/145107072/nhs-12-week-fitness-plan-adapted-for-the-c25k-consolidation-period
(Thread 4/23)
(Thread 4/23)
11/07/2020 Enjoying the NHS Strength & Flex program of podcasts. It saved me from running related knee-niggles. The program is designed to be done in gardens or parks. I got really close to the trees outside my house! (Thread 5/23)
11/07/2020 Yup! Can do 10 Bench-dips in one go! My bench ... a rock underneath a beech tree. My pull-up bar ... a branch of a maple. (Thread 6/23)
12/07/2020 Increasing my runs, I am now able to run 60 min regularly but still sticking to known routes. Also still need that safety blanket of music with a particular beat! (Thread 7/23)
17/08/2020 Started virtual End-to-End RunLeJog4, running the whole of the UK. Love the real/virtual digital/physical mashup! Specifically during various lockdowns. Thumbs up for @runendtoend (Thread 8/23)
31/08/2020 Ran my first full 5k. More followed. They became the regular distance for my early (very early) morning runs 3 times/week. Still immensely self-conscious and panicking every time I come across humans
(... yes, this fades with time) (Thread 9/23)

24/09/2020 Finally, first new running shoes. Delayed for too long as fitting is difficult during lockdowns. Learning about the art of lacing running shoes.
#26/09/2020 Having fun with my own five-week Running and Workout Plan, exploring also all sorts of running / fitness apps @ZombiesRunGame @Runkeeper @Strava @fiton_app @nike audio runs @InstructorLive . Fell in love with foam rolling. (Thread 11/23)
24/10/2020 First time Pilates & loved it. How did I not experience Pilates before?? It has German origin’s, for goodness sake! (Thread 12/23)
31/10/2021 Running with Zombies on Halloween

and getting hooked to @ZombiesRunGame . Also, I can now handle running in four virtual worlds simultaneously! Is there a Guinness world record? (Thread 13/23)

16/11/2020 Started Bridge to 10k plan; also couldn’t resist starting to read about running. And finally, a first running equipment buy: a new fancy running vest @FreeTrain1 to hold my phone with @Runkeeper . And yes, it’s brilliant! (Thread 14/23)
03/11/2020 Joined the Support Team as a volunteer on the NHS associated HU Strength and Flexibility Forum. They’re brilliant! Feel invited to join us @HealthUnlocked ! (Thread 15/23)
24/01/2020 A runner’s Xmas ( Ooohhh @injinji toe socks!) and the delight of discovering new routes! (Thread 16/23)
27/12/2020 Continuing with the digital/physical mash-ups, I started two further virtual challenges: Running Hadrian’s Wall 145k
and Indoor Rowing the English Channel 34k
@Concept2UK @myvmission (Thread 17/23)

01/01/2021 Started YogaWA 30day BREATH @yogawithadriene , yes, like thousands of others. And loving it. (Thread 18/23)
01/02/2021 Finished YogaWA BREATH. Daily Yoga first thing in the morning is now a thing in our family. My knees also now allow a child’s pose! Planks are still the stuff of nightmares, though. (Thread 19/23)
08/03/2021 Completed my first Virtual/Real Rowing and Running Challenges! Also fell in love with the real bling!!! (Any other runners tempted to wear them as necklaces?) (Thread 20/23)
28/03/2021 Participated in the Virtual HU Spring 10k (Edinburgh), with 9k run (local). My Training-Plan did not quite get me to 10k in time. Bummer! (Thread 21/23)
02/04/2021 Reached 10k and ran in the Festival of Running! Running ultra-slow the Niko Niko way, but reached 10k! 3rd to last position, but this hypothyroid runner is more than chuffed. (Thread 22/23)
It’s been a strange year, challenging in so many ways. But I added a valuable hobby including joining its own brilliant community. Running has become embedded in my daily life, and it is better for it. I’m immensely thankful for this. (Thread 23/23) @HealthUnlocked @NHSC25K
