the popular stevenat theory and why i 100% believe in it + a rant about it. a thread:
so basically there’s this ‘headcanon’ that someone on tiktok made that when steve went back in time and we see the scene of him dancing with peggy to #that song, we assume that he went back in time to marry her. but. i don’t necessarily believe that and here’s why.
first of all. in age of ultron (i think) he said he came out of the ice a different man. meaning he’s trying to let go of his past. second of all. in endgame, sam asks “do you wanna tell me about her?” and steve says “no, i don’t think i will”. why?BecauseIt wasn’t who we thought
he never got to have a dance with peggy. but in endgame when he goes into the past for THE !FIRST! time, he sees peggy clearly moved on, and probably knew that she had her own husband and children. steve would not go back in time to completely erase their existence. because if he
did marry peggy, that’s practically murder. for love. because he never got to have the dance w peggy, the scene shown of them dancing is just that one time. but then after that he went back to more modern times (any time before vormir) and married natasha. again, when sam asks
to talk about her, he says “i don’t think i will.” WHY THE HELL WOULD HE SAY THAT??????? LIKE HELLO????? and also. when all the avengers (except nat) return from their time travel missions they ask if nat had a family, and they say “yeah, us.” and steve was a part of that convo.
he knew peggy had moved on and had her OWN HUSBAND and OWN CHILDREN. but who did nat have? she had them. this theory makes perfect sense to me and if you don’t like it then FUCKOFF and unfollow me because i cry over stevenat on the daily .
