I must be the only one still unimpressed with Bakuten so far, huh.
I personally found the 3d animated sequence on the messy side. The camera angles, panning in and out etc felt random and on an "automated setting" rather than purposeful, and they distract from the actual movements of the characters' performance on the mat.
It absolutely reminds me of idol maker games where you build your 3D idols and set them to "perform" to a music and the sequence is automatically generated by AI or something. And while creative camera angles/panning are impressive when it's applied to idol performances...
... these "elements" don't particularly have big movements, so the constant switch gives their more static poses more variety. But in gymnastics the elements already have big movements (jumping) so layering that with rando angle shots takes away the fluidity of actual animation.
I also think, even if this was meant to be spectator pov it makes even less sense to have this many camera angles. If one is familiar with how actual matches are actually filmed for tv one would know YoI does the realistic pov much better.
Anyway that's just me with the animation which was the reason I wanted to watch this. But it is only episode 1 so I guess verdict is still. pending. It currently sits on the "meh but watchable" grade for me, bit like Samurai gym. I may still continue if there's nothing else tho
