I love Christ so much. His holiness causes me to tremble and sends chills down my spines. It takes my breath away. He is so merciful to me, someone that transgresses his divine law daily. Just thinking of my sin makes me want to vomit, yet Christ is so rich in mercy. I’m in awe.
I am filthy, marred with stains of sin. Yet I was washed, I was sanctified, I was justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of God. I grab onto my baptism and the promises contained therein, where in the baptismal waters I was offered the whole Christ.
By faith I receive what my baptism offered and sealed to me. I receive pardon of sins and newness of life. I derive my regeneration from the death and resurrection of Christ. By means of his death my old man is crucified and by means of his resurrection I am raised to new life.
I did nothing for this. I deserve nothing but punishment, but I received mercy. Praise Christ, the eternal King who triumphed death!
“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus
Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
Titus 3:4-7
