Look I know not everyone on here is a train-head but I cannot over-emphasize the beauty of falling asleep in your berth in the middle of the Rockies and then meandering into Vancouver the next morning. Especially if you’ve never been to Vancouver before. Mountains AND ocean!
Entering Halifax by train is also very good, though it’s in the afternoon and I’ve done it so many times that it might have lost its original thrill. But I love when the train passes the Bedford Basin, then later hits the harbour and goes right past the nightmare grain elevators
I’ve done quite a bit of cross-country train travel on account of my horrible fear of flying lol
Taking the train from Toronto to New York was also one of my favourite trips. Baby’s first Amtrak! The woman in the seat next to me was explaining everything we were passing as we pulled into the city. I was so hyped about it lol
And then I told the extrèmely nice taxi driver that i’d never been to New York before and he turned off the fare meter and drove me past the Empire State Building before taking me to my hotel
