CHROME: hey i put a button up here called "reading list"
ME: what is that
CHROME: ...
ME: (clicks it)
CHROME: You'll find your reading list here. To save a page for later, click the Bookmark icon
ME: (looks for icon shaped like a bookmark)
CHROME: ...
ME: (googles it)
GOOGLE: to add to your reading list, click the Bookmark icon, which is the same for bookmarking a website
ME: the... star? the star-shaped icon. the icon that is a shape we have a word for already, that is called "star"
GOOGLE: ...yes
i dunno, if you have a feature called READING LIST where you BOOKMARK things to READ maybe there is some established visual metaphor you could tie into there??? it might take top minds a serious brainstorming session but i think you can do it google!!
why the fuck has the star been introduced as a symbol for bookmarks, have you ever tried to put a star inside a book? your paperback would be vaporized before it even got close
even the new sub-icons in the bookmark menu aren't bookmarks
this is apparently google's clone of Pocket, which has a very cute name and icon that ties together in a fun way in your brain! you click the little pocket with the arrow to put it in your pocket for later! and it's more flexible, maybe I wanna put a video or a song in there!
like i can put a youtube or soundcloud in my reading list but the whole metaphor breaks down and remember how it used to be a big deal that google hired smart people and you had to pass like a genius puzzle test to get in lol
also look at this boring ass icon that is just like, I dunno, a list or whatever. this is your list. it's got like bullet points. who knows.
it's in a rectangle. we put a lot of thought into this.
WHY don't you click the READING LIST BUTTON to put something on your reading list???? what is wrong with these people
like if it's gonn take two clicks anyway just put a plus button here ffs
i dont even care if this is a useful feature i'm too mad about this implementation i dont even wanna look at it lol
