Another thing misses out on is that there's been about 30-40 years (at least) of anti-union propaganda from both the government and companies that is just accepted as "common sense" now. Union Busting has become an established norm and its not gonna stop anytime soon https://twitter.com/ajplus/status/1380629088801595392
For a while, it was very popular to say "Unions are only useful when you have companies that don't look out for employees, but its better to save your money and work with them inhouse" it was flawed logic but enough ppl repeated it that soon a ton of folks believed it
I often cite the Southern California supermarket strike of 2003–04 mostly because I became a worker/union member afterward and saw the effects and how the unions kinda screwed us over and it really was this weird moment in labor politics where you couldn't trust labor movements
But also teh companies were clearly not about solving shit "in-house" the strike was an effort to break the union and it definitely hurt it and all the workers that joined up afterwards.
What's encouraging was the Septa worker strike of 2016 where they crippled the city before elections, and the teachers union with Covid measures...but lets not let those cloud the idea that this isn't an uphill battle as there is a lot of unlearning to be done wrt organized labor
