Gen. 3:17 and 16:2 employ almost the exact same language regarding Adam & Abram listening to the voice of their wife & committing great sin.

1st, let me say unequivocally (even tho this will be twisted) Adam & Abram were 100% responsible for their sins. Not their wives.

BUT:
What does this teach us? The lesson is NOT (and I cannot stress this enough) - the lesson is not that husbands should not listen to their wives ever. That would be unwise and sinful in many cases.
Nor is the issue that men are just better than women or anything silly like that.

One lesson, though, to glean in our current debates about complementarianism: godly men ought to lead their homes and churches unwaveringly committed to what God has said in His Word.
There is a temptation to see our current context and the charisma of certain women and think “Man, it just seems wrong to not let her preach to men & women!” But this is something similar to what Adam and Abram did - intentionally disobeying clear instructions of God’s word.
We cannot allow present circumstances or cultural contexts to cause us to compromise in this area. After all, Abram never lost his justification, but the consequences of his sin were harmful to all involved and for literally generations to come.
And as one more point: I asked @stephnelson4 her opinion before I posted this. 😂
