This is a thread of what design inspiration I would use to base both the narrative tone and costume/set design of a PPG reboot, a very unnecessary one at that.

The show is clearly an interpretation of the post war response to the atom bomb, a more secular society (Mojo Jojo is evolution) and an homage to mid century and space age design.

First off they wear these uniformed little dresses that are clearly lifted from Cardin with wide center band and bright colors in a straight shape as to not accentuate curves but supply a uniform. They’re super heroes, this makes sense.

If you wanted to even just do BLOSSOM as an example, this would be so easy just by looking at Courreges archive. Flowers, pink, button closure to side because she means business/de facto leader. Done.

Bubbles is easy too—ribbed cotton and softer fabrics because she’s so gentle, a bit simpler than Blossom

Buttercup, done, any space age leather and militaristic shit, if you’re hell bent on making sure she never wears a skirt give her a sixties jumpsuit or just put her in Tennis shit since she’s way tougher

Obviously every interior is a Midcentury delight in the show. The furniture style with the most available reproductions in fucking history

Also most important to note is that in their neighborhood in Townsville, they are the ONLY people living a super Ultra Modern lifestyle, with an typical family arrangement (PPG aren’t birthed by anyone, Professor Utonium gave them life and Mojo Jojos inteligencia)
