So today I got an email asking why we don’t share Randy Rainbow’s work. This person suggested we were Trumpers because we weren’t endorsing his satire. I also fell out of my chair laughing. (1/11)

K. Just to be clear, I’m Asian and if you forgave and forgot Randy’s appalling jokes about Asians, and basically everyone else, that is entirely your choice. To you, musical themed satire is important work. Fine.
Just know that I don’t. (2/11)

I don’t find this funny. It’s the same shit that was said to me on playgrounds and classrooms growing up. (3/11)
But here’s the thing. While Randy may have tagged his apology to the end of a magazine profile that was promoting his book, from what I’ve seen, he never did the work to gain forgiveness from those he was joking on. (6/11)
He just basically said “those were bad jokes and I’m not that person anymore.” The weakest of weak apologies. And to make it worse, he dismissed our anger because we should apparently know that old tweets are just old tweets. 7/11)
And many of his white fans accepted that weak sauce on our behalf and criticized us when we said it wasn’t nearly enough.
There is nothing “better” as an Asian man then to have a white person tell me when I should be offended by something. (8/11)

The biggest problem I have is what Randy said comes from an accepted form of thinking that has evolved over the past decade into the violence that we’re seeing against the Asian community today. (9/11)
“You can joke on us, because we’re weak.“
“You can bully us, because we’re weak.”
“You can murder/assault us, because we’re weak.” (10/11)

So no, I am not going to share or promote anything that Randy does.
I haven’t forgive him and I never will. (11/11)

Oh, and in case he reads this - Randy, fuck you.
And just for full disclosure, this is the "apology" I am talking about. https://www.advocate.com/comedy/2020/8/20/randy-rainbow-emmy-nom-and-resurfaced-racist-transphobic-tweets
