UPDATE: I did not intend for this intelligent-pop thread to be all-women, but it turned out that way. And who or possibly whom am I to argue? So I am #NowListening to LucindaWilliams& #39; CarWheelsOnAGravelRoad, and this is a Good Thing.

Takes me right back to when I had just moved to London from a village near Sheffield. I was only just discovering (despite being in my mid-20s) that there was really good music out there. Music better than I had even imagined might exist during my sheltered overlong adolescence.
On another day I could tell you about how my hair turned white overnight after hearing the FlamingLips& #39; "TalkinBoutTheSmilingDeathpornImmortalityBlues" for the first time in 1999. But they are not women, and therefore we CANNOT discuss them on this thread.
