We are finally home and Ashton is resting comfortably without the constant poking and prodding that accompanies a hospital stay for my precious boy. Please allow me to share some thoughts with everyone...

Whether you’ve been following Ashton’s Journey from the first post or just stumbled upon us along the way, I want to thank every single one of you from the bottom of my heart for all the thoughts and prayers and likes and retweets and messages etc...

I have been overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of support from strangers who gave a little bit of their time to help a grieving father try to cope with such pain. Thank you to @KFILE for inspiring me to start this Twitter journal...

I was hopeful when I started documenting Ashton’s Journey, that it would turn into a miracle story that I could one day share with Ashton after he beat this cancer and grew up. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be how Ashton’s Journey will turn out...

We put baby Ashton through two rounds of aggressive chemotherapy that really did a number on him and us. Sadly his tumor appears to have increased in size by about 40% during this time. Additionally the metastasis that was present at diagnosis is still present...

Given these facts, additional chemotherapy is not indicated for Ashton. Going with a more aggressive regimen would simply bring too much risk for such a young fragile body. Also the metastasis precludes any possibility of resection...

His neuro-oncologist will present his case to the tumor board at @ChildrensPgh and search for any possible clinical trials, however given Ashton’s young age, the mass effect of his disease, and the metastasis of the cancer, it doesn’t appear that Ashton will beat this...

We want to make his remaining time as enjoyable as possible and create as many good memories as possible in the limited time we have left with Ashton. Creating a lasting bond with big brother Cameron is the highest priority to me right now...

Ashton’s diagnosis makes him eligible for @MakeAWishPAWV and we are hopeful that we can do a trip to @WaltDisneyWorld for the boys that Cameron will always remember...

I’m in tears as I write this update so I’ll end it here. But given the level of support I’ve received from all of you I felt I owed a detailed explanation of where things stand and where we are headed. I promise to continue to share Ashton with all of you.
