/ Ok, @UpholdInc and @AskUphold and @JpThieriot - I tried to give you all the time and benefit in the world, but ENOUGH! I want the public to know how you dropped the ball and now my friend is out $60,000! Anyone who uses uphold BEWARE and read this story carefully...
/ My friend Steve (that name is generic enough) had his SIM card and email account hacked onJanuary 24th around midnight (MST). In the morning (Jan 25 2021) he had notification from his traditional bank that his account had suspicious activity. Thousands of dollars were moving..
/ in strange ways. The bank shut down the actively automatically in fear of fraud. They called Steve and said to verify by a few things. Through this vefication process the bank helped Steve understand that his SIM card in his phone had been cloned along with his email address..
/ Was hacked. Steve called me and asked what he should do about his Uphold account. He couldn’t log in because his email and phone were hacked. The 2FA wouldn’t work since the SIM card was cloned. We were able to resolve the hacked email account quickly, but the phone was not..
/ able to be recovered or secured so easy. So on January 25th Steve (with the recovered email address) emailed Upholds fraud department to let them know he had a serious security issue and that his account should be locked/frozen IMMEDIATELY. See attached screen shot from Steve
/ Note the time and date of that message from Steve to Upholds fraud department. Credit where credit is due, Uphold respond the next morning acknowledging the issue and said they are assigning a specialist to the case. Here is the screen shot of Upholds response. Note time+date.
/ Ok so let’s review! Steve phone/email got hacked, damn. He immediately told @UpholdInc to lock the account on Jan 25. Uphold acknowledges on the morning of Jan 26 (

/ Supoort ticket number 1012366 was born and all seemed well and Steve thought that @UpholdInc had his back - WRONG!
/ Since Uphold was notified of the security issue and told to freeze his account (and received acknowledgement from Uphold), Steve then turned his attention to trying to fix his cloned phone / SIM card and the 2FA issue along with it. This had to be done with his cell carrier..
/ then he had to go back to Uphold once the clone issue was solved to gain access to his uphold account and verify his identity, standard operating procedure. Nothing crazy. I was worried for Steve and contact Uphold from MY account to make SURE they were on top of it. See pic:
/ As seen above Edgar assured me they had it under control. This ^ was on Jan 28th for the record. I now felt better. Well...Next morning Jan 29th Steve then got a notice from Uphold saying there was actively on his account in which his bank CANCELED some purchase for crypto.
/ WTF!!! Why is there activity at all, the account was supposed to be locked/frozen per the above tweets
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤯" title="Explodierender Kopf" aria-label="Emoji: Explodierender Kopf">So Steven responded as seen here:
/ Steve then got some generic ass response from @UpholdInc as seen below assigning a NEW support ticket number 1021303
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤦♂️" title="Mann schlägt sich die Hand vors Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Mann schlägt sich die Hand vors Gesicht">
/ shortly after the above exchange happens Steve received THIS email saying “don’t worry we know you have crypto with us, all is safe and well” BULLSHIT! See attached:
/ In the mean time anxiously waiting to hear back from Uphold, Steve got a new phone and phone number. He was also able to get the process started getting access to his account through the 2FA and uphold identity verification process. While doing that THIS FUCKING HAPPENED:
/ Are you fucking kidding me! The account was supposed to be locked and this was the SECOND transaction taking place even AFTER @UpholdInc acknowledged the issue as seen in the above tweets!!! FUCK! Steve responded IMMEDIATELY with this:
/ Now STEVE and I are pissed! @UpholdInc was completely dropping the ball and couldn’t careless. Steve then sent a SECOND email responding to the account activity REexplaining the situation:
/ Steve had NO response from the above message and it took until MARCH 6th to gain access to his uphold account where we found a SHOCKING TRUTH. All his 60,362 XRP were fucking gone!!! @UpholdInc @JpThieriot @AskUphold
/ The DISGUSTING part was that STEVE told uphold on the 25th of Jan and @UpholdInc recognized the issue on the morning of the 26th of Jan and as you can see in the below attachment the funds were STOLEN a few hours AFTER uphold said they had it under control!
/ All transactions above are FRAUD committed AFTER @UpholdInc had been told to freeze the account and they recognized they WOULD!
/ Now Steve has lost $60,000 USD and @UpholdInc was more the able to stop it from happening and even SAID they would - but didn’t. Now they are not responding and running from us. Please share this story and re-tweet.
/ we’ve asked @UpholdInc to help and they told us “too bad call the cops.” I would agree if we DIDN’T give them fair notice - BUT we did. @UpholdInc did FUCK all about it and LET it happen.
/ Steve is a damn fine human. Re-tweet and please help. @jungleincxrp @JpThieriot @Fame21Moore @AskUphold @XRPArmyNews1 @TheDailyHodl @JamesMalpass12 @MrFreshTime @realLisaDaly @xrpartisan @BakkupBradley @digitalassetbuy @XrpMr @BakkupBradley @MackAttackXRP @AlexCobb_
Here are the screen shots today from @AskUphold when they complete ghosted me. What the fuck! You should all be ashamed. I don’t care if @UpholdInc kept #xrp listed if they screw their customers like this.
