Top 5 Artist & Producer collab albums I want to see: a thread ✨
1. MEGAN THEE STALLION & MIKE DEAN
With Production credits for UGK, Paul Wall, Scarface, and Travis Scott, Mike Dean played a vital role in bringing Houston to the mainstream. He’s as pivotal to the city’s sound as DJ Screw
It would only make sense that he and Houston’s top hip hop force—Megan Thee Stallion—work together. Her back catalogue is filled with Houston influences and her stories of her upbringing in Texas.
2. PHOEBE BRIDGERS & JACK ANTONOFF
Over the past few years, Jack Antonoff has made his name as a producer for heavyweights such as Lorde, Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift. His knack for creating somber, soft music to compliment his artist’s songwriting makes him Alternative’s best producer.
This level of talent mixed with Phoebe’s flawless songwriting work and beautiful vocal performing would no doubt lead to her best work and possible his. He’s worked with every main alt girl and Phoebe is surely the next main alt girl in the industry.
3. POLO G & THE ALCHEMIST
Hip hop heads universally agree that the only thing holding Polo G back is good production and interesting beats. His flow is top tier and his lyricism is some of the best the trap/ drill genres has ever seen.
Known for developing young artists (Earl Sweatshirt, Action Bronson, Domo Genesis) and breathing new life into established artists’ works (Freddie Gibbs, Boldy James), The Alchemist would be a great fit in helping Polo G reach the next level in his hip hop journey.
4. LADY GAGA & ARCA
Both Arca and Lady Gaga have advanced the pop genre in such a way many artists never can dream of: both musically and with their image. They’ve set their own standards and have influenced multiple eras in their own right, allowing themselves pure freedom of expression.
Musically though different, a collab would no doubt be a match made in experimental dance heaven as Arca’s production is so weird and unapologetically her’s and Gaga vocal and performing talent allows her to excel in any genre including ones out of her comfort zone.
5. POST MALONE & DAVE COBB
There’s no doubt Post Malone is talented, important to music and one of alternative hip hop’s most famous voices ever. But sometimes it seems he’s too afraid to fail. After years of struggling to break into folk, he moved to hip hop & found success instantly with “White Iverson”
Failure can be scary, especially when you start with no connections on SoundCloud and a home studio. But Post Malone is three albums deep and has resources to producers in genres I’m sure he’d like to try his hand at again.
Dave Cobb is the premier Folk/ Americana producer we have today having credits for legends such as Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton , Sturgill Simpson, John Prine and more. If Post wanted to make a folk/ rock album there’s no better person to make sure he succeeds than Cobb.
