#SayNoToABA I’m an ABA therapist. I’m not telling you ABA is good- instead I’m telling you that ABA companies prey on college students by being one of the only jobs where you don’t need prior experience, and pay $18-$22/hr (in california) when the minimum wage is $15 (1)

We need to start a thread of adjacent jobs to ABA that therapists can instead apply to. I’m asking because now that I know what ABA is about I want out- problem is, I need to survive too. I can only disobey my work’s instructions for so long. Most of us are undergrad students (2)

I believe all you when you talk about abuse. Truth is, I wasn’t trained to know what autism was. We focus on compliance and social behaviors (eye contact). It all lines up. But I know other BTs are like this, not knowing how to get out without not being able to afford to live (3)

It’s disgusting that the unlivable wage is being exploited like this so more untrained “therapists” are recruited. Anyone living in SoCal knows what I’m saying. There’s a high amount of BT’s here. (4)
