RANT: while I agree the way this girl chose to post about her intrusive thoughts is in poor taste, i just can not get how how ABLEIST the replies are, holy fuck. I have an anxiety disorder and I have for many years now, but over the past year has gotten pretty serious... 1/6 https://twitter.com/teoswurid/status/1379151856291692544
and I get intrusive thoughts sometimes. The replies are so fuckin toxic and buy into a lot of very harmful misconceptions about ppl who struggle with mental health issues. They feed into every worry I have about my intrusive thoughts and make me feel like shit.

My intrusive thoughts don’t typically present them self like that girls. 90% they’re directed at myself, but I know that for me they feed off my fears and the things I’d never want to do,, a common one I get is about mutilating my hands or something.

A lot of the most things to me; sculpting, painting, drawing, playing the piano/guitar/ukulele, all involve my hands,, so I’ll get intrusive thoughts about fucking up my hands. You typically get intrusive thoughts about the things you least want to happen/do.

The people talking shit in the comments are the SAME people who preach mental health awareness?? Yet they are out here demonising a mental health issue? I’m sorry but not all mental health shit looks like a pretty girl next door struggling with depression.

Stop perpetuating harmful misconceptions about mental health issues. I can see why people think the way she formatted her post was a bit yikes, but I highly doubt she had any ill intent,, and demonising a person for the mental health symptoms is so SO damaging. DO BETTER.
