The Falcons put it out there on purpose this week they were fielding calls for pick 4. Teams only do that when interest in small to try to drum up interest. Their pick would be way valuable if teams really thought Jones was going 3 and both Fields and Lance would still be there.
Nobody wants to trade that high for the 4th QB. They can probably go to 7 or 8 for that, 6 at the highest. No need to go to 4 unless both Fields and Lance are there then there’d be a bidding war. Teams don’t believe both will be there.
Draft trades aren’t made out of nothing while on the clock, especially big ones in round 1. Too little time for that. There are usually frameworks made before for them dependent on what pops up. The fact nobody really wants that 4th pick is telling to me.
Not that teams know for sure what the 49ers will do, but I think even they are accepting that they probably won’t be taking Mac Jones, despite the outside noise (which could be created by some teams to try to influence).
