I'd really rather not talk about Philip Mountbatten at all, but to remove all doubt:
His response to a gun ban after the most horrific atrocity in Scotland during my lifetime was "if someone killed babies with a cricket bat, would you ban bats too?"
Say hi to Thatcher for us.

The idea that we're all meant to take a week out of our lives to honour the memory of this despicable, cruel, selfish, arrogant man utterly turns my stomach.
"But his family's lost a husband/father/brother/uncle" - which is why this should be private, not imposed upon all if us.

People are weaponising people's natural empathy & understanding of grief to force a narrative upon us and cow any objections, using our own humanity against us. It is beyond despicable, & actively damaging our society in the process.
It is not enough to "say nothing if you can't think of something nice to say." The people exploiting & ruling over us are hijacking our very emotions, demanding we exercise a sympathy they do not possess for people who have drained us for centuries.
I would rather not think about Philip Mountbatten ever again for the rest of my life, but the people in power don't want me to have even *that* freedom. I'll be damned if I'm going to let them browbeat me into eulogising that vampire.
