Okay so because I'm in this mood, here's some stuff you should know if you're a newbie VA and you'd like to learn things the easy way

In a weird mood so it'll be disjointed, but here's some Stuff you might wanna know before u jump in too deep

🧵
NDAs:

Everyone's fave twitter discourse topic. Here's what you might not know about NDAs.

Everything has a default, implied NDA. Yes, everything you ever work on for forever. I know it's weird, but bear with me for a moment.
Someone is giving you access to their IP when they allow you to audition. That IP, by default, is private. You should always consider this to be true, and act accordingly.
The only thing you are ever allowed to say, until you are told otherwise explicitly and preferably in writing, is whatever you know for a fact to be public knowledge.

This means: public audition material, a call if it's public, and anything you're given express permission to say
EVERYTHING ELSE is considered to be under a gag order until the day you die or the thing is fully public. Seriously. Until, for example, your game is published and your name is easily findable in the credits, or you've been told to announce, you just never speak of it ever đź’€
I'm done talking about NDAs now, that's literally all you ever need to know. Don't break this rule and you won't have all of Voiceover Twitter jumping down your throat.
What else? Don't ask people for references, unless do that in specific cases. I've heard of people doing this and being successful, but I don't know where that line is drawn so best to just Not Do This. It can be seen as SUPER rude.
Also if someone announces a role, don't ask where they found the audition, how they got the role, etc. It's so so weird to be on the receiving end of this, and it can feel like an intrusion, especially if anything about the process was secretive or unusual.
Tweeting about work is weirdly seen as gauche by some people, so tread carefully. Mentioning you got an audition is not technically bad/breaking anything, but some people seem to have an issue with it anyway. Be aware that your employers are capable of seeing anything you say 🤷🏻‍♀️
