DONATION TIME, LONG THREAD, BEWARE: So back on March 17, my costs for this account had gotten larger than I was comfortable with out-of-pocket. I, hesitantly, asked for donations to cover a few hundred dollars of costs for the integration service I started with... [1/16]
I was hoping to just get enough to cover it. I put up my Venmo and CashApp information at approximately 9:52AM. By 10:02 I& #39;d taken down the post and begged you all to stop. A few more trickled in, but ostensibly in 10 minutes, you all contributed a total of $2286 (!!!!!) [2/16]
I promised that I would post an accounting of my costs for the services, and donate the rest, and here we are. Zapier, the original integration service I used, cost $203.51 and $203.75 for the Iowa and Minnesota sites. [3/16]
I later switched to @integromat, who after hearing what I was doing, donated 40,000 actions per month, which I& #39;ve been using to run all the statewide accounts. I purchased an extra 90,000 actions to future-proof this thing a bit, for a total of $72. [4/16]
That leaves $1806.74. I rounded up to 1807, and split that among 9 charities, some of which were recommended to me, some of them mean a lot to me personally... These are those charities: [5/16]
Creative Visions, a Des Moines-based group working to support economically vulnerable families and help get them into a more prosperous and healthy spot. [6/16]
@DVIPIOWA , who provides crisis intervention services to victims of domestic violence. [7/16]
@HACAP_ , a group that helps in eastern Iowa in an incredible number of ways... Food pantries, childcare support, homelessness, veterans. I personally have used their services in the past, when I was young. Great group. [8/16]
@MDCIowa a group supporting education and economic support in an attempt to promote a multicultural society, diversity, and equity. [9/16]
@NAMIIowa The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Iowa serves as a catalyst around advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all Iowans affected by mental illness can lead better lives. [10/16]
@OneIowa is a group working on support for, and education around, issues surrounding the LGBTQIA+ community in Iowa. [11/16]
@rotary that has a number of domestic and international programs tackling some big, big issues, including fighting diseases and getting vaccinations to countries that may not normally have access to them. [12/16]
@UAYiowacity provides programs for Youth in Iowa City, it is a place for youth to have a voice and give back creatively to their community. [13/16]
And finally, the Paws and More Animal Shelter in Washington, Iowa... Because, animals, you know? [14/16]
And that& #39;s not even including the thousands that people have contributed to @UIchildrens via my @ExtraLife4Kids fundraiser, where you can still give if you& #39;re interested (but obviously don& #39;t feel obligated) https://www.extra-life.org/participant/bfin">https://www.extra-life.org/participa... [15/16]
You can see a full accounting of the donations that came in in this google sheet (multiple tabs at the bottom)... If you have any questions, my DMs are open. Thank you all for your generosity, it& #39;s honestly a little overwhelming.
