I bring up this most unpleasant text to show, (as did the OP) that as much Asian homophobia is a colonial/Christian introduction, the fact remains you can justify homophobia in a wholly Asian context, without the least reference to western ideas or scriptures.

Therefore, efforts to eradicate homphobia that work on an assumption that the homophobes are Christian, or have a Christian worldview, will have limited effect, for Homophobia can be supported entirely without any direct Christian worldview.

In turn, it is perhaps interesting to note how master H's Homophobia differs from the Christian sort. homosexuals are not singled out for condemnation personally as depraved individuals, as in the Christian sort...

Rather, the context of the lecture shows homosexuality (at least to master H) is one of the symptoms of the dharma extinction age, where moral chaos reigns in general.

in turn, it is interesting to note that the suggested response of master H for AIDS is not attempting to "Cure" homosexuals, but rather to chant mantras to save humanity as a whole from the plagues

Further piece : Master H tells us that "professors" who say the Surangama Sutra is apocryphal, do so for the sake of allowing themselves to continue drinking, smoking and whoring: they simply cannot stand the pure teachings of the sutra

It has likewise came to the author's attention that master Hsuan Hua also composed a commentary on the Lotus sutra. Readers familliar with the Lotus sutra would know Chapter 14 contains the following line
亦復不近五種不男之人。

Chinese 亦復不近五種不男之人。

Hsuan hua: Further, they do not draw near to the five kinds of unmanly men or become friends with them.

BDK: A bodhisattva should also not approach the five kinds of impotent men nor be intimate with them

(note that the Chinese phrase is 不男之人, literally
"Not-male people" )

His commentary begins with the idea that Homosexuality is 'contagious'- legalising it would turn men away from hetrosexual marriage.

What master H elides here (but interactions with my relatives supply) is the belief that gay sex brings all the pleasures of sex, with none of the responsibilities, such as pregnancy. Homosexuality, to these people is thus an inherently destabilising force,
