Kishimoto’s father died while he was writing the most important arc of Naruto yet WSJ only gave him a week off to mourn. The life of a weekly Mangaka is insane, we just have to be grateful for the quality of work they manage to put out. Just look at what happened to Togashi.
I think Oda once stated that he sleeps 3 hours a day and spend 13-15 hours drawing. Just imagine doing that for over 20 years.
Thinking about it, it’s insane how mangakas such as Sui Ishida and Takehiko Inoue had to work these hours while providing beautiful artwork for their weekly series.
In a weekly series...and he managed to put out stuff like this.
This was Kishimoto’s schedule. Credit to @OrganicDinosaur for making this!
And seeing stuff like this makes me sad.
This was in the comments, but this was in an interview with Oda(One Piece) and Toriyama(Dragon Ball).
Tite Kubo, the Mangaka of the popular series, Bleach, even went through this as well. He was forced to cut his series short, forcing himself to work with injuries.
Here is some more information about Togashi, the Mangaka for Hunter x Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho. Credit to @tallerspaniel for this!
