this gringo discourse is a thing that happens like every month or so but what does it says on social levels? a lil thread about alienation and power structures bc ive been told some of u dont have sociology classes
this is lil short like fr so but here we go
what is opression? opression is when a group puts their believes as the only right one and use their power to force other people to believe on the same thing.
Is every believe a opression? ofc no and it cannot be. we live in differents realities and therefore our believes, the results of our ways of living, will be differents, that is normal. per example i think soccer is AWESOME and rugby sucks and that is maybe bc im brazilian
so how does opression works in that way?
the weird specific thing about opression is that its a whole ass system made by a hegemony (the white, colonizer capitalist system -the power structure) and in that way it doesnt opress a single thing about you but also your other beliefs
/ bigotry
per example, this opression system makes us associate woman with submission, black people with underpaying jobs, inidgenous people with laziness, evolution and technology with usa and europe, social setback with the east, etc
yeah ik this so what does this have to do with the gringo discourse?
here is the thing, this bigotry is so internalized on us that when u r born into a category like that you automatically tries to comfort yourself by making a "degree of bigotry"
degree of what?

like when u are born a female and its middle school and you deal sexism by saying that u hate all the things related the girl, you hate pink, all the popular girls, you are different. You dont hate it u just want to opress something to decrease how opressed u r
that mechanism of opressing something to decrease how YOU are opressed is something marx call of alienation. he uses that in capital to talk about the way a worker doesnt see himself in a production system but paulo freire uses that concepts more socially abroad+
when he says that "when there arent education that frees them(from thinking based on the power structures) the dream of the opressed is to become the opressor.
is this just a same opression mechanism thing?

no! how many gay cis white man you see hating on woman? this is pretty much they trying to feel less opressed by stimulating more opression to make them feel like in the same opressor position as straight cis white man
so about the gringo discourse

some poc r trying to say they can reclaim gringo (which isnt a slur but ok) and use it against latine white people which really is just this circle of opression, by stimulating xenophobia, that i have said

hope yall learned something on this thread
