Light angst, happy ending

"Midoriya suffered a quirk accident yesterday on his internship," Aizawa says, and the words echo ominously inside Katsuki's brain.

A 'quirk accident' may mean a lot of things. It may mean your hair will sprout flowers for a week. Or it may mean you
have 12 hours to live while your lungs slowly become an aquarium.

Katsuki doesn't want to jump to conclusions - even more because his boyfriend texted him last night and said he was fine. But it's just like Deku to hide important things he thinks will stress Katsuki and Aizawa's
expression isn't of someone carrying good news.

"He lost some memories. Possibly a lot of memories. He was informed as much but he can't miss something he doesn't know he had. His brain is filling up the gaps with assumed information or making the details of his memories hazy.
He may act in a way you're not expecting." Aizawa continues and a ball of anxiety grows in Katsuki's stomach.

"Sensei! Will he get his memories back?" Round Face asks what they're all thinking.

"The pros are working hard to catch the person responsible for this. We believe
they can reverse the quirk. Until then, I ask you to not force him to remember things. It may hurt his brain and cause severe stress to Midoriya."

Katsuki feels like throwing up. What's wrong with Deku? What doesn't him remember? He seemed fine last night by text.
Before Katsuki can mentally prepare himself for anything, Aizawa says "I'm going to call him in."

The whole class collectively hold its breath and the doors open and Izuku enters.

"Good morning, everyone!" He greets with a huge smile as if nothing is wrong. "Sorry to worry you
all! I'm completely fine!"

"Midoriya, take your seat."

"Yes, sensei!" He chirps and walks towards the desk behind Katsuki.

As he gets close, Katsuki watches in slow motion as Deku smiles to him a smile way, way brighter than he uses in public.

"Hi, Kacchan! Hope you weren't
too worried! I know how much of a worry-wart you are!" Deku says, looking straight at him.

Katsuki frowns confused. Deku shouldn't say that in public.

"Who the fuck worries about you, nerd?" he says, trying to dismiss it.

But Izuku just giggles and lands a
loud kiss on Katsuki's cheek.

"You do, silly" he giggles, before walking to his seat as if that was normal.

What the fuck?

Katsuki's mind runs in override. Shit. Fuck. Whatever Deku forgot, clearly the memory of them agreeing to not tell anyone about their relationship went
with it.

Now everyone is looking at them, expecting Katsuki to blow up. But he also can't because fucking Aizawa /just said/ they couldn't challenge Deku's memories.

Fuckity fuck fuck. What can Katsuki do?

Class passes by in the most surreal way possible. Deku giggles the
whole time without any apparent reason whatsoever. And he sends little cutesy notes to Katsuki.

'You look handsome in this light'

'So focused, Kacchan! You look awesome going plus ultra in class!'

'Did you change your shampoo? It smells good'

Katsuki feels like he's about to
auto combust in embarrassment. Sure, he knows the need likes him, if not because they've been dating, then because Deku always told him as much. But never like this! This is too much! And in front of everyone! What will the extras say?

There's something really weird with Deku.
Katsuki needs to know more about what the hell kind of quirk hit him or else they and their secret won't survive this. He can feel every paid of eyes from his classmates darting towards them every few minutes. Shitty nosey extras can't stay out of people's business.
That's exactly what they wanted to avoid when they decided to keep their relationship between them.

In the couple of minutes between Aizawa leaving class and Present Mic arriving, Deku starts chatting with him.

"Don't you think today is a nice day, Kacchan? Maybe we could go on
a date! A walk by the park! It'd be just like when we were kids!"

Katsuki doesn't pay attention to his rambling, though. Too busy freaking out over this whole situation. He just grunts noncommittally and prays for class to restart soon.

During their second periods, the giggling
and the notes continue. Each one more adorable than the former. Deku plans a whole weekend getaway for them instead of paying attention to class.

His classmates get increasingly tense with the situation. There's a deep crease in Glasses forehead, Shitty Hair looks ready to
intervene in a fight at the drop of a hat and Round Face looks ready to be the one starting it.

The situation comes to it's breaking point when Present Mic finishes his class and frees them for their lunch hour.

The moment their teacher is out the door, Deku jumps from his
chair and hugs Katsuki by the neck.

"Kacchan! Let's get lunch together!" he says.

Katsuki stays frozen in place as Uraraka, Kirishima and Iida rush towards them, already trying to defuse the situation.

"Deku! Don't you want to have lunch with us?" Uraraka asks, her face
showing a tension her voice tried to hide.

"But I can't leave my boyfriend alone for lunch!" Izuku whines.

Whines. Katsuki has never heard Izuku whine before. Never. For absolutely nothing. Izuku isn't needy and he never demands anything, and he certainly doesn't whine
when he wants something.

There's something really wrong here. Deku didn't just forget their relationship is a secret. He forgot how to be Deku. This isn't his boyfriend. Katsuki needs to talk to Aizawa and get to the bottom of this.

"We can all have lunch together!" Kirishima
offers, trying to reassure Izuku.

"I have to go" Katsuki says, getting up from his chair.

"But Kacchan! Lunch!" Deku demands with a pretty pout on his lips that only serves to solidify Katsuki's decision.

"I need to talk to Aizawa. See you all later" he says, rushing outside
before anyone can stop him.

He walks briskly down the hallway toward the teachers' lounge but hears someone running after him.

"Bakugou!" Iida calls for him and Katsuki stops to hear him. "I know this is all unexpected. But as class president, I must ask you to go along with
Midoriya's delusions. Aizawa said it'd be dangerous for him to be confronted with the truth right now" he asks seriously.

So that's what they're thinking. They think Deku's brain made up their relationship.

The realization sits wrong with Katsuki, leaves a sour taste in his
mouth. But at least he won't have to explain shit for now.

"Don't worry, Glasses. I won't melt the nerd's brain" he grumbles. "I just really need to talk to Aizawa."

"Alright" Iida agrees. "We will keep him company for now."

After that Katsuki quickly reaches his destination
and demands to talk to Aizawa.

"Old man! The fuck is wrong with Deku?" he barks.

"Bakugou. I already explained to class that he lost some memories"

"Fuck that noise! He's acting like he lost half his brain!" Katsuki protests.

"Well... It could be" Aizawa sighs. "There's no
way of knowing how much he lost."

"How the fuck not? How could a civilian make him lose his whole fucking personality?" he rages demanding answers.

"It wasn't a civilian. It was a villain."

"What?"

"I just got news from Endeavor's agency... The villain calls herself
'Happily After Ever' and she makes a person forget all their bad memories leaving them with just happy ones. Midoriya has forgotten even simple things like a day he was late and missed the bus. And his brain is working hard to close this gaps with assumed information. That's why
his personality may seem odd right now."

Aizawa's explanation sits like a block of ice inside Katsuki's stomach.

Only happy memories.

This immediately tells him that they agreeing to keep their relationship a secret isn't a happy memory for Deku. Even if he said he agreed
with Katsuki's reasoning.

"This villain has been evading heroes for a good while now. She thinks of herself as a savior, doing hard work to make people happy. Endeavor and his sidekicks are after her now. When she's arrested, they will find a way to reverse her quirk."
"If," Katsuki says with a small voice. "If she's arrested. You just said she's been on the loose for some fucking time."

"I can guarantee the pros are going to work their hardest to catch her, Bakugou."

"But if they don't? Does Deku stays like this?"

"...there's no known
way to reverse her quirk as of yet." Aizawa admits.

Feeling like he's gonna throw up, Katsuki turns on his heels and leaves.
